Simulation workshop

Dear Participants,

We welcome you to our first Emergency Medicine (EM) & Critical Care Simulation Faculty Development workshop in Sri Lanka.

Simulation-based delivery of medical education is the benchmark for the training of undergraduate & postgraduate students in many developed countries. Simulation helps in promoting the practice of the highest standard of medical care in hospitals. It helps our trainees to learn critical skills in a safe environment without endangering the life of our patients. It also provides them multiple opportunities to practice the new skills and procedures.

Simulation helps the educators in the assessment of their trainees for skills, behavior, and performance during crisis and management of life-threatening emergencies. In this workshop, we will focus on the development of the skills of EM & Critical care faculty members to understand the uses of simulation as well on practicing different modalities of simulation in education delivery.

Workshop Objectives:

1. To understand the importance of simulation-based learning in medical education.

2. To demonstrate different types of simulation methodology used in Emergency Medicine.

3. To learn the development of scenarios meeting the curriculum requirement.

4. To demonstrate and practice debriefing strategies used in the simulation.

5. To discuss various low-cost approaches of simulation-based education delivery.

6. To plan for core activities for the development of SIMULATION FACULTIES and EM simulation for the year 2017-2018 under Sri Lankan Society for Emergency & Critical Care.
